To achieve this primary goal, it included activities based on exchanging and disseminating best practices between Türkiye and Lithuania in the realms of youth work, youth engagement, place-making processes, and the right to the city. Employing various creative methods, the purpose was to involve youth in identifying with the spaces around them, utilizing non-formal education approaches to enhance their awareness of the right to the city and amplify their voices in dialogues with local authorities. Furthermore, the project tried to engage local authorities in constructive dialogues with civil society, raising their awareness of the specific needs of youth groups.

Izmir Center for the Right to the City
“İzmir Centre for the Right to the City” (ICRC) is an initiative of İzmir Dayanışma Akademisi, aims to address crucial issues faced by the city dwellers in their everyday life. Starting in November 2020, the Centre seeks to empower citizens who struggle to get access to justice, city infrastructure, food, care, etc. Framing these daily problems as a breach of the collective rights of citizens, it aims at strengthening communal bonds and individual agency, enabling communities to find sustainable solutions to essential issues. The Centre promotes the rights-based approaches and practices and to supports the active participation of citizens faced with socio-economic challenges and the shrinking of democratic space in Türkiye.
Padėk Pritapti
“Padėk Pritapti” is a non-governmental, non-profit organization following the principles of democracy, justice, solidarity, equality, citizenship, and volunteering. Its goal is to reduce social exclusion and promote the integration of vulnerable groups and tolerance through education, informal and inclusive education. “Padėk Pritapti” has been operating as a multicultural day center for children and youth since 2009. Here, children of Roma, Lithuanian, Russian, Polish, and other ethnic groups meet daily. Since 2019, it has been operating as an Open Youth Space, in which non formal education experts promote meaningful youth employment. All “Padėk Pritapti” activities focus on education, promotion of social skills, communality, respect for each visitor, trust building, work with families, breaking down of stereotypes, and educating the public. The organisation is also engaged in advocacy, it constantly cooperates with state institutions, represents the rights of Roma and other families experiencing social exclusion, educates the society by breaking down stereotypes, and invites people to reflect, rethink, get interested, and volunteer.
