Displacements within the Framework of Environmental and Climate Justice: Concepts, Debates and Cases report examines the complex and controversial relationship between environment and climate events and displacements/migration/mobility from an environmental and climate justice perspective. While presenting different concepts, theories and discussions on the subject, it examines the social, economic and political reasons of displacement/migration/mobility in relation to ecological destruction.
The report presents different cases from around the world and looks at displacements caused by coal mines in India, dams in the Brazilian Amazon, oil pipelines in Uganda and Tanzania, and mega climate adaptation projects in Jakarta. The example of Muğla showcases how coal mining drives people away from their homes, lands, health and commons. The report also focuses on the local struggle against the project in İkizköy.
