This initiative seeks to strengthen women’s right to the city and contribute to urban memory in Tarlabaşı and Paris by empowering immigrant and displaced women through feminist, creative, and participatory practices that foster solidarity, self-expression, and collective agency.

Through workshops and creative activities, the project strengthens solidarity among women in Tarlabaşı and Paris, creating spaces for meeting, dialogue, and shared expression. These activities help participants build resilience, self-confidence, and critical awareness of gender inequality and the right to the city. By expressing themselves through photography and video and engaging with local authorities during the exhibition process, women gain better access to public and NGO services, including information on mechanisms against gender-based violence. At the institutional level, the project enhances the knowledge and collaboration of local authorities and civil society organizations on issues such as gentrification, access to urban spaces, and women’s rights, while fostering stronger partnerships between TTM, ACORT, and local actors.

Association of Supporting Tarlabaşı Community/Tarlabaşı Community Center (TTM), İstanbul
TTM is an NGO established in 2006 which has been for creating safe spaces where children and women of Tarlabaşı, one of Istanbul’s multi-dimensional fragile regions, are strengthened, gain awareness and talk about their rights. TTM constitutes a rights-based community center model for its counterparts. TTM aims; to empower the inhabitants of Tarlabaşı who are excluded from social life and struggling with various deprivations that are caused by poverty and migration; to support the community in terms of accessing their rights; and to decrease the prejudices against Tarlabaşı. Gender inequality, poverty, and discrimination are the main social problems that TTM is fighting against.
L’ACORT (L’Assemblée Citoyenne des Originaires de Turquie), Paris
L’ACORT is a Paris based association which brings together people about specific issues: Access to Rights and Freedoms; Women, Health and Mediation; Childhood and parents; Cultural exchange, music and cinema. Activities and projects carried out collectively, by members, volunteers and participants within L’ACORT. The main goal of L’ACORT is to provide nearby assistance and activities by being a neighborhood association.
