The project aims to promote inclusive and sustainable public spaces in the Montemor-O-Novo and Gaziantep cities that foster social cohesion, belonging, and participation, particularly among vulnerable groups such as migrants, the elderly, and youth.

By developing practical tools and participatory methods, the initiative supported the creation of inclusive and sustainable public spaces across cities. A handbook and two case studies guided this process, demonstrating how local adaptation can strengthen social cohesion and environmental resilience. The project engaged participants representing migrants, the elderly, and youth in every phase of the space transformation. It also raised awareness among local authorities, organizations, and communities about the vital role of green public spaces in fostering social connection and collective well-being.

Kırkayak Kültür, Sanat ve Doğa Merkezi – Gaziantep
Kırkayak Kültür was founded in Gaziantep in 2011 with the aim of creating third spaces that foster social cohesion by bringing together different socio-economic groups within society. By establishing shared, voluntary spaces where various segments of the community can interact, Kırkayak Kültür seeks to facilitate coexistence and expand these spaces through its activities.
Currently, Kırkayak Kültür operates in three different locations in Antep: the Art Center, the Migration and Cultural Studies Center, and the Third Space Kitchen, where it continues its work in the fields of protection, culture and arts, and migration studies.
Marca ADL – Montemor-O-Novo
Marca ADL appeared in 1997 in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal, and it is a non-profit association, with a legal status equivalent to Non-Governmental Organisation for the Environment (ENGO), it is recognized as a public utility entity, and also manages a certified nursery of native plants. The association aims to promote the qualified development of its municipality, in particular the promotion of actions in the social, cultural, environmental preservation and enhancement of the natural and built heritage.
