MAD10:Remembering the Past, Building the Future Together

What has changed in the field of spatial justice over the past 10 years? Where has MAD been, whom has it encountered, and what has it done along the way? As civic space continues to shrink, what kind of world awaits us over the next 10 years? Where should MAD stand, what should it do, and who should it stand alongside?

On MAD’s 10th anniversary, on Saturday, 3 October at Postane, we will look back at the past 10 years together and think collectively about the next 10.

MADretrospective: The Past 10 Years of Spatial Justice

What has happened in Turkey’s spatial justice landscape, and in MAD’s journey, since 2016?

Together, we will create a timeline bringing together the events, projects, and encounters of the past 10 years. As we reflect on MAD’s story alongside Turkey’s changing spatial justice agenda, we will also add our own experiences and memories to this collective timeline.

MADstrategy: MAD’s Next 10 Years

Having looked back, we now turn our gaze towards the future.

We will share the strategy development process we have carried out with MAD’s team, members, and stakeholders for the organisation’s next 10 years, along with its outcomes. In light of changing needs, emerging areas of struggle, and new priorities, we will discuss the possible directions MAD can take in the years ahead.

MADforum: Spaces of Solidarity for the Future

Spaces are not merely places where we live, work, or come together; they are also places where we organise, build solidarity, and shape the future together.

In the final session of the day, we open the floor to collective reflection. From a spatial justice perspective, we will discuss spaces of hope and solidarity for the future in the face of multiple crises. What kinds of spaces do we need? Where and how is solidarity built? What can today’s struggles tell us about the spaces of the future?

MADauction: The 10th Anniversary MAD Solidarity Auction

Rare objects, skills, and surprise experiences will go under the hammer in support of MAD. All proceeds from the auction will contribute to MAD’s continued work.
